The EU ECO-TANDEM invites the tourism sector and sustainability experts to take part in the Tandem Advisory Board of the programme. The Board will chair at the beginning of the programme delivery and will be responsible for selecting the final SMEs and startups and startups to be paired in TANDEM.

What is the objective of the Call for External Tandem Advisor?


The Tandem Advisors (15 in total) will initially screen and select on the candidates (SMEs* and startups) of the EU ECO-TANDEM Programme based on the application procedure. 


The purpose of having a Tandem Advisor is to keep the EU ECO-TANDEM teams on track with their learning and guide them through their professional journey. To ensure this, the Tandem Advisors will have regular virtual meetings and carry out monitoring and evaluation activities of the potential tandemees (SMEs* and startups), providing them the assistance and the consultation as well as have the meetings with the finalized tandems in order to detect obstacles to the correct project development in time. 


A financial compensation is included for the Tandem Advisory Board.

What is the role of the External Tandem Advisor?


The External Tandem Advisors role is to review applications and provide support throughout the program. In order to identify the most promising businesses and ideas, the responsibility of the advisors is to help evaluate the prospective candidates. During the program, they draw on the experience they have gained throughout their careers and lives and transfer it to the tandemees to ensure successful and steady development within their projects. Thus, Tandem Advisors support and assist the tandems with their professional expertise with general consultation when needed. To be successful in the role as an advisor, participants need to know and identify with the purpose and vision of the EU ECO-TANDEM Programme.

Who can apply?


Eligibility criteria*

  • Temporal availability (mandatory): the External Advisor must ensure sufficient availability to review applications and to support its responsible EU ECO-TANDEM throughout the project. In addition, the Tandem Advisor must ensure sufficient availability to provide general consultation to the assigned Tandems (2 per Advisor).
  • Language skills (mandatory): due to the diverse research teams from Europe, fluent English language proficiency is required.
  • Professional experience (most relevant): 
  • Profile (A): profound experience and knowledge in the field of tourism or any related industry
  • Profile (B): experience from or a deep understanding of greentech startups including agile methods, digitalization aspects and innovative technologies is required for the role as an external tandem advisor.
  • Sustainability concern (highly relevant): identification with the purpose and vision of the program is required, in particular awareness and experience in dealing with sustainability aspects/issues in research or practice.
  • Coaching skills (relevant): adaptability, flexibility and resilience are necessary conditions that help to ensure participants' learning success and to overcome the challenges that might occur during the project.

Timeline

  • Application open: July 1st, 2021
  • Application closed: September 25th, 2021
  • Selection of Tandem Advisors: end September 
  • Notification and acceptance:  beginning of October
  • Signing of Code of Conduct: by October 14th, 2021

Notification

Successful applicants for the Tandem Advisory Board will be informed by the end of September 2021. Upon the selection process, an official appointment letter and further information will be emailed to the selected candidates. Only successful candidates will be notified via email (please check the spam folder too).

Subsequently, online web meetings will be organised to get to know the group work, share information and provide organisational details.
